About the Artist!!!

I began working with glass when I was 20 years
old, in 2000, with private lessons at an alternative high school in
Philadelphia by the name of The Crefeld School. I really enjoyed what
I was learning, and I guess you could say that I got the “glass bug”
which is a craving to want to know more about glass as a medium for
art making. My desire to learn more about glass kept growing and I
needed to find a way to keep learning, and I wanted to figure out how
to do it as cheep as possible. Well, I came up with idea to attend
college. My first step in my college endeavors took me to Salem
Community College. There, I learned how to make glass on a torch,
also known as
lampworking. After a few semesters at Salem, I
transferred to Temple University’s Tyler School of
Art, where I learned more skills in glass making which included
working out of a furnace, cold and hot casting, some fusing, and
coldworking. I graduated with my B.F.A. from Tyler
in 2005. Through the years, I have also taken some summer workshops
which have helped me with my understanding of what glass can be in
tremendous ways.

Since college, I have been producing my own
designs in glass including coming up with jewelry styles and art. I
have met so many people within and outside the field of glass making,
some whom I have helped with their own work, who have helped me grow
as a glass maker and an artist on so many levels. I also have taught
a few classes, including private lessons, teaching at Buck’s Rock
Performing and Creative Arts Camp in New Milford Ct, and also at Salem
Community College in Carney’s Point, NJ. Now, I can’t wait to see
where my next step is going to take me.

Working with glass is one thing I can say is a true
love of mine. I have been working for about ten
years now, and I don’t see myself stopping.
